Today, we are excited to announce a new partnership with Fortinet, the global leader in networking cybersecurity, enabling joint customers of Wiz and Fortinet to better secure their cloud infrastructure and workloads. As part of this partnership, Wiz has joined the Fortinet Fabric-Ready Technology Alliance Partner Program, and Fortinet has joined the Wiz Integration (WIN) Program. We've built an integrated solution to help enterprises protect their cloud workloads, taking advantage of Fortinet’s leading network security and Wiz’s leading Cloud Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP).
The popularity of the cloud makes it easier than ever to expose a resource to the internet, which can result in unintentional exposures. Exposure is a major risk, as it can create an attack path that leads to a data breach. With large scale cloud computing, it can be challenging to identify all instances of exposures in your environment, let alone understand exposure criticality and proactively remove it.
The partnership between Wiz and Fortinet offers customers protection of their cloud resources by detecting network exposure risks, clarifying the context around them, and automatically remediating accidental exposures. Through its deep visibility and context into cloud environments, Wiz identifies network exposures that combine with other risk factors to create toxic combinations that can lead to attack paths. The integration enables Fortinet Security Fabric to ingest those context-based security insights and use them to create automated security enforcement with FortiGate Firewall. Joint customers can now send Wiz Issues and Cloud Events to Fortinet to automatically block or allow certain traffic to and from virtual machines, using FortiGate-VM and FortiGate CNF.
With this integration, customers can:
Automatically identify and remove unwanted public exposure
Customers can detect publicly exposed virtual machines with Wiz, validate them with Wiz’s Dynamic Scanner, and automate remediation by blocking internet traffic using the FortiGate-VM and FortiGate CNF.
Detect and respond to exposure threats in real-time
Customers can detect suspicious behavior related to exposure in real-time with Wiz’s threat detection rules, and quickly respond by automatically blocking traffic to the virtual machine with FortiGate.
Remove exposure based on business impact
This integration enables customers to understand the business impact of an exposure with Wiz — such as a publicly exposed VM with a known vulnerability that has access to sensitive data — and automatically remove exposures based on criticality with FortiGate.
Joint customers benefit from comprehensive networking capabilities offered by Fortinet, combined with Wiz’s cloud and workload context, to identify risks, prioritize them, and automatically remove unwanted exposures.
“The new integration will add value for our joint enterprise customers and enable them to seamlessly protect cloud workload environments with leading network security from Fortinet, and leading cloud security posture management from Wiz,” said John Maddison, Chief Marketing Officer and EVP of Product Strategy at Fortinet. “Fortinet continues to expand its Open Ecosystem with Wiz to better help enterprises and large organizations secure any application journey on any cloud.”
“Having a world-class partner like Fortinet as part of WIN testifies to the power of a ‘together’ approach,” said Raaz Herzberg, VP of Product Strategy at Wiz. “We’re also thrilled to be joining the Fortinet Open Ecosystem. Combining forces allows us to deliver significant value: empowering security teams so they can meet diverse needs quickly, driving more value across the organization, and adopting a new cloud operating model.”
