Wiz at Re:Invent 2024

See what’s new with Wiz at Re:Invent 2024 and learn about how Wiz and AWS continue to strengthen their strategic partnership, keeping AWS customers’ environments secure

re:Invent ‘24 was jam-packed with product releases (check out Wiz Defend!), new AWS integrations, a 90s-style video rental store coming back to life, speaking sessions, awards, and tons of swag! From participating in a fireside chat in the Partner Keynote lead by Dr. Ruba Borno, Vice President of Global Specialists and Partners, to speaking at two different AWS Partners Live! sessions (watch the first and second one here), it is hard to choose a favorite moment.

We also had an amazing session lead by our co-founder and VP of Product, Yinon Costica: Get cloud and application security right, from the first line of code. In this session, Yinon discusses how a code-to-cloud approach empowers developers to move at the speed of the cloud without compromising security. Yinon was joined by Bernd Bauer, Head of Protection and Consulting Services at Siemens AG, for a fireside chat about their cloud security program. We also participated in a FinOps session Making dollars and sense out of FinOps, where Ron Tzrouya our Lead of Cloud FinOps & Analysis at Wiz shared insights about best practices for managing cloud costs.

Wiz also took part in many AWS product launches and new programs to benefit our joint customers, including the following major announcements:

Wiz named AWS Marketplace Partner of the Year

We are proud to share that we received the AWS Marketplace Partner of the Year award from the AWS Partner Network (APN) which recognizes the top global AWS Marketplace Partners with significant AWS Marketplace transactions throughout the year. We're thrilled to be recognized with this award, and we look forward to continuing our work with AWS to help customers build scalable and predictable security workflows.

Amazon Q Developer plugin for Wiz

The new Wiz plugin from Amazon Q Developer brings the power of Wiz directly to the AWS console, making it easier for developers to ask questions about the security posture in AWS using human-language and gain immediate insights into any risks in their environment. For example, a user can ask Amazon Q: “What are my critical severity issues in Wiz?” and quickly get a list of the most pressing risks they need to focus on, all within their AWS environment.

Introducing Wiz Defend

Wiz Defend is a complete suite of detection, investigation, and response capabilities for SecOps to protect their cloud environments from threats. Wiz Defend fuses risk context from the Wiz Security Graph, runtime data from the eBPF-based Wiz sensor, and IaaS and SaaS activity context from CSP audit logs. With this rich context, it provides a complete view of cloud threats so SecOps teams can effectively manage the full incident response cycle in cloud.

Wiz Sensor available on the Amazon EC2 Image Builder Console

The Wiz Runtime Sensor is now available on the Amazon EC2 Image Builder Console, which allows customers to seamlessly add the sensor to their EC2 Image Builder recipes. The Runtime Sensor is a lightweight eBPF sensor that blocks cloud attacks and provides real-time, in-depth context for containers, VMs, and serverless. This enables organizations to create a defense in depth strategy that covers prevention, monitoring, and response for the full protection of cloud workloads.

Wiz supports new Resource Control Policies

AWS announced the launch of Resource Control Policies, which allow customers to set limitations across their entire AWS Organization and set preventative controls that help establish a data perimeter in the AWS environment and restrict external access to resources at scale. Wiz is a launch partner and supports RCPs as part of Wiz's Effective Permissions engine. Check out the recent Wiz blog post about how to use AWS RCP

Wiz receives new Security Lake Service Ready Specialization

The Security Lake Service Ready Specialization recognizes AWS Partners who have technically validated software solutions with demonstrated customer success that integrate with Amazon Security Lake. Wiz is now a specialized Security Lake partner, allowing customers to add Wiz Issues, AWS security events, and log data, to a single customer-owned cloud security data lake.

Wiz Sensor Supporting Amazon EKS Auto Mode

AWS launched the Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) Auto Mode, a new capability to streamline Kubernetes cluster management for compute, storage, and networking, from provisioning to on-going maintenance with a single click. Wiz Runtime Sensor was announced as a validated partner for the new Auto Mode capability to allow customers to scan their EKS managed instances, enabling access through eBPF to those instances. Check out more at the Amazon EKS Auto Mode announcement at re:Invent
